Operation Colony Cats (OCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to reducing cat overpopulation in North Mississippi through humane, effective methods.
Our mission is simple but impactful:
-
Trap community cats—both feral and stray
-
Neuter/Spay to prevent further litters
-
Return them to their original location, or place adoptable cats and kittens into foster care
What We Do
🐱 Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR): The cornerstone of OCC’s work, TNR humanely manages outdoor cat colonies and stops the endless cycle of reproduction.
🏠 Foster & Adoption: Kittens and socialized cats are welcomed into loving foster homes until they find their forever families.
🩺 Medical Support: We provide vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and necessary veterinary care for cats entering our foster program, including those preparing for transport through our partnership with Sweet Paws Rescue.
📢 Community Education: We share resources and guidance on responsible pet ownership, the benefits of TNR, and ways to help community cats.
Our Impact
Since our founding, OCC has spayed and neutered nearly 8,000 cats and kittens across the region—reducing suffering, preventing thousands of unwanted litters, and improving the lives of community cats and their caretakers.
Our Story
What began as a grassroots effort to help neighborhood cat colonies has grown into a registered nonprofit with a network of volunteers, fosters, and supporters making a difference one cat at a time.
